On his Wimbledon debut in 2001 he came
up against eventual runner-up Patrick
Rafter in the last 16 and fell at the
same hurdle to 2002 champion Lleyton
Hewitt a year later.
However, since then, he has won only
one match, going down to Goran Ivanisevic
in the first round last year.
The Russian is yet to get his season
going, with only a quarter-final appearance
on the hard courts in Dubai to show
for his efforts.
He has also lost his Russian number
two ranking to Nikolay Davydenko.
Youzhny's finest victory dates back
to 2002 when he coaxed Russia to Davis
Cup glory with a stunning singles performance.
He was two sets down to France's Paul-Henri
Mathieu when he hit back to take an
unlikely victory.
